Hey friends,
As you know, the fires in Los Angeles have affected some of our nearest & dearest, including our recent tour mates / bffs @usic & their families⊠weâve been focusing all our energies toward helping their communities & being supportive in any ways we can. Sorry for our silence on social media, weâve been very present in the 3D World and will have some news soon on benefit shows / ways we can all help lift up our hurting brothers & sisters. Itâs heartbreaking & near impossible to think about what the people of Altadena, Pasadena, The Palisades, and other affected communities are having to navigate through right now. Sometimes thereâs this misconception from the outside that Los Angeles is all wealthy, able to bounce back from something like this with the flick of a switch. But the Los Angeles I know the most intimately, is the creative community that lives largely paycheck to paycheck, putting everything into their art to make our days move easier, our struggles more digestible and soundtrack the best & worst of our hours. The Los Angeles that people donât see on the highlight reel, are the Black families who lost their generational homes in Altadena. It was one of the few areas in LA in the 1960âs that was exempt from redlining, making it possible to own property and plant roots. Their road back to normal is uncertain & terrifying. I feel so helpless. I appreciate so much y'all sending us the resources youâre finding, helping to spread the stories from folks who donât have a loud voice in the crowdâŠyou remind us that thereâs so much more good in the world than there is evil. Weâll be back soon with more to say but for now, thank you for caring so much. Thank you for making our friends and community members feel less alone. đ§Ą
