in the future - u will be able to do some more stuff here,,,!! like pat catgirl- i mean um yeah... for now u can only see others's posts :c
I’m deleting the few shorts I’ve posted on this channel and making an Anthill Art Shorts channel.
youtube.com/@AnthillArtShorts
Yes, I know some people don’t like shorts. I don’t like them either but 1) Other people are posting my videos as shorts anyway, so I might as well post them myself. 2) Sometimes I’d like to post a clip of something short. 3) Profit (sorry, it’s necessary). It will mostly be short versions of my existing/future videos but I'll post some unique stuff there too. And if no one subscribes, I'll delete the shorts channel and we'll all just agree to forget this ever happened. Also, I have a new amazing (long) video coming very soon (Casting an Ant Colony in a Large Stump).

I'm going to occasionally sell casts on eBay (auction, for now). I have two on there right now. I don't think I'll post every listing here on YouTube (so as not to annoy people) but I will post when I list on my Facebook and Twitter so follow me there if you want to know when I'm selling. www.ebay.com/usr/anthillart

I planned to do at least five videos this year,. That's a fairly low bar but I did reach the goal. I'm always trying to diversify my content as much as possible to keep things interesting and to be honest, I'm just slow at making new ideas happen. I'm going to try to up my production in 2022 and already have some cool new ideas in the works. In the meantime, in case you missed this Christmas gem from last year:

Casting a Foam Pumpkin with Molten Bronze for Halloween. Not every video has to be about ants (or does it?).

This was supposed to be a fire ant colony cast but apparently the ants built their colony down into a major intersection of ground squirrel tunnels. Most of the aluminum flowed right through the colony and into the larger ground squirrel tunnels, leaving only a small part of the ant colony casted. It's too bad that I wasn't filming this one because it would have made a great video. I poured a large amount of aluminum into this one (22.4 lb / 10 kg). Normally that would be enough to significantly fill a colony of this size and have some aluminum backing up close to the ground surface if not into the surface mound itself. So, I thought it was a little strange that I wasn't finding aluminum structure near the ground surface as I started digging. Eventually I hit one the large aluminum casted tunnels fairly deep in the ground. It looked a little bizarre though and I really couldn't tell what it was until I pulled the cast out of the ground. It was interesting. Casting colonies had become a little routine and boring at that point so it was exciting for something different to happen. For scale, the cast is 27 in (69 cm) left to right in this picture. The ground squirrel tunnels were around 1.5 in (4 cm) in diameter, minimum.More pics/info for this cast here: www.anthillart.com/castings/064/Answers to the questions I anticipate getting: yes, I'm rehashing old content to distract from the fact that I haven't posted a new video in months and no, ground squirrels were not harmed in the making this cast. New videos coming soon!tl;dr molten aluminum > ant colony > ground squirrel tunnels > weird cast

I'm testing this new community posts feature. Here's pic of a few red carpenter ants that I took. Can't say for sure that I'll actually post stuff here in the future. I have no clue as to whether my subscribers will get a notification when I post or what but that seems like it might get kind of annoying. What do you think? Post or don't post?

Casting ant colonies and with molten aluminum and other related stuff occasionally. As seen on the Science Channel and elsewhere. Multiple casts are in museums, donated to educators or being used in scientific research.
