The Department of Biosystems and Agricultural Engineering (BAE) educates engineers who ensure that the world has clean water systems, adequate food production, and sustainable energy sources. Trained in biological, environmental, and engineering sciences, biosystems engineers are challenged to improve the sustainability of production systems, decrease or eliminate environmental hazards, and preserve natural resources.
Through the University of Kentucky's land-grant mission of research, education, and extension, Biosystems and Agricultural Engineering seeks to develop sustainable systems for the production and processing of food, fiber, and renewable energy products, and to minimize or mitigate the impact of these systems on the environment.
Our faculty work at the forefront of their fields, and our alumni work in various engineering sectors, including research, industry, and government. BAE is educating future leaders in the biological, environmental, and engineering sciences.
