We hope that all of you are having a great 2025 growing season so far! Our indoor gardens are well under way! We are looking forward to the inevitable thaw and the real gardening season that follows!

We did a little bit of channel housekeeping here recently. Notably, we built out our playlists so that they are more topic focused. This should help our viewers find content they are specifically interested in more easily.

We are also planning on developing more content this season than we did in 2024. I had to do a bit of internal reconciliation with "the algorithm" last year. I felt that it was pushing me more towards "general gardening" as opposed to continuing to be an important resource for far northern growers. Well, I'm going to push back!

So, what does that mean for our viewers? We'll of course continue to focus on content that has relavence to many growers, like growing from seed and container gardening. These are all techniques we use and love, so our content will still cover these things. But, we're also going to focus on more topics that apply to far northern gardeners. (Like our recent cold stratification video.)

What it comes down to is there's tons of general gardening channels. We're not trying to be those. We set out with the Frosty Garden thing to be a resource for far northern and extreme cold climate gardeners. It's important for us to stay true to our roots and focus on the stuff we do best!

We hope you all have an excellent 2025 growing season! We're looking forward to growing with you this year and as always, we appreciate your support!

We are thinking about playing around with some different video styles this season. Specifically, more "laid back" videos where we're going through various processes in real time. They would likely be more focused on what real gardening looks like and would be a slight departure from the more refined tutorial style content we've been producing. Think "ASMR" but with a little less ASMR.

To be super clear, we still intend to produce "tutorial" style content, as education is our primary focus here at Frosty Garden. We're exploring whether we should also add other styles of videos with this season.

Your input is appreciated! We're having a lot of fun this season so far! Things will be ramping up very soon for us, we're about to get really busy! Thanks for all your support, we appreciate every watch, like and comment!

Happy winter solstice, everyone! Us northerners revere this day, almost akin to what might be a national holiday.

The darkest day of the year for us, we get a mere 3 hours and 42 minutes of daylight from sunrise to sunset. But, starting tomorrow, we'll be gaining that sunlight back.

And, by this point in the winter, we really need that swing back in the other direction to help us power through the rest of winter. What starts as a trickle of more daylight will soon flood into hours, eventually returning us to those blissful days where the sun simply does not set. Outsiders sometimes wonder how we get through it, but it's through celebration of solstice and the absolutes of this annual cycle that keep us in good spirit.

We're expecting the 2024 seed catalogs will be showing up any day now. We are looking forward to perusing them and solidifying our 2024 gardening plans. It's almost hard to believe we are only a few months away from flipping the switch on our grow lights, again facing the task of raising hundreds of plants for the growing season. We are looking forward to growing with you all again, but in the meantime we hope you're getting some thorough rest this winter.

We are wishing you all a wonderful solstice and hope that it's re-invigorating you for yet another season! To more daylight!

We want to use our first community post here to thank all of you! Your support of our new channel this year has been absolutely tremendous! We had a modest goal of 250 subscribers in our first season on YouTube and we thought that was going to be tough. We are just stunned that you all pushed us well over 1,700 and it's still climbing. We honestly can't thank you all enough!

This is the current scene at our homestead these days! Yes, we all ready have snow (6 inches/15 cm+) and sub freezing temperatures. We typically don't see above freezing temperatures until the following April or May!

As you might expect, our gardens are now fully shut down and we're transitioning into northern winter living. Our videos will slow down over the winter, but we do intend to post at least a couple in between now and when we start up our gardens from seed next March. We might also check in here and there on these community posts, just to stay in touch!

We're really looking forward to the 2024 growing season and have a lot more ideas to share with you all. If you're itching for more content, we've got a ton of written articles over at FrostyGarden.com/

Thank you all again for checking out our channel and for all the great comments. See you again soon!
