For those of you who haven’t heard yet, we’re moving! Yes, we’re leaving behind the 6000 square feet of urban growing space that I currently use for food production, selling our house, and heading to the country to start again from scratch.
This has made for a much busier than usual summer, but now that our soil is frozen and the snow is falling, I have taken some time to explain the reasons behind the move. The full explanation is too much to fit into this short post so I’ve just shared the complete story and more photos on the Field Journal page of our website. There will be a lot more to share going forward as this new property has no irrigation, no walk-in cooler, no wash/pack station, no nursery greenhouse, and no high tunnel…just land and a few established buildings to start with. While it’s difficult to give up all that I had built in the city, I am also looking forward to building everything again, only better. 🙂
