Mentioned the wild yarrow on our live tonight. Here are the pics. Right now it is like a lush carpet that is soft.
In the first pic the arrow shows that it goes all the way past the three greenhouses before it stops. It won’t get much taller but then it will bloom and die off (or be grazed by the pigs).
Critters love it especially the pigs!

28 meat chickens plus a mean rooster my friend needed dealt with.
Usually only the two of us butchering. But my friend with the rooster graciously stayed all day! Thank you to her! She rocked it!

NO #7FGoalSetting2025 livestream this Tuesday 6/17/25.
We will be back the next week 6/24/25 on @MtnGrandma ’s channel.
Sorry folks…the meat chickens need to be processed as we are expecting 90 degree temps this week. They need to be processed so we don’t lose any.
See ya’ll next week!!!

On to the next pair! Thicker yarn means I am moving along faster. But I feel more comfortable with the process.
This yarn is so soft. So glad I chose it. These socks are gonna feel like a hug to my feet.
Using the same pattern to see how these turn out (less mistakes, hopefully) before trying another.
Hope everyone had a great weekend! It’s gonna be delightful and warm here this week. How about ya’ll?

Sneak peek at our latest repurposing project.
Sadly my friend had this awesome metal pergola on their deck. The wind caught it and landed it on her roof! Dang it.
She was gonna trash it but us garbage collectors took it off her hands. Thankful we saved her the trouble of cutting it up for the trash so she was thrilled!
Stay tuned! We completed the garden planting today and will show a garden tour soon!
Ps we had a frost last night. Thankful we covered it all up vs gambling!

Cancelling the live for tonight…
Ryan has a midday appointment so we are getting a late start to our tasks.
The overflow garden is the last one to be put in and it needs to get done today! Plus the hail netting needs to be installed before we plant.
We woke up to 34F this morning so we are thankful we covered everything last night!
Also canning rhubarb bbq sauce today…a friend generously gave us a ton of rhubarb!
See ya next week friends! Have a great weekend!

I finally did it! Made lilac syrup. I first heard of lilac jelly and syrup from my Canadian friends. Then I kept missing when the lilacs were in bloom!
Today I finally did it and it’s divine. I can see this being delightful in a cup of tea. Light fragrant simple syrup with a fresh taste. I think I may make more tomorrow!
Anyone ever have luck infusing lilacs (especially the fragrance) in oil for soap? Let me know how you did it!

Whelp maybe next time…
We dismantled the nest broody Besse was sitting on. No viable eggs. None fertilized. We believe she may have been out of the coop overnight longer than we thought.

We always desired to have a homestead but never followed through due to life, land restrictions, life challenges, etc. We moved to South Dakota in January 2020 and shortly after, the world changed as we knew it. This prompted us to take action and luckily, we had property that would accommodate our plan.
Inspired by homesteading channels on YouTube, we started a journey to self sufficiency. We began with baby chicks to raise for eggs and now have a 2 acre farm!
So where did the name come from because we are not a large scale farm? In 2009, we adopted a 5 year old Olde English Bulldogge that forever changed our lives. His name was Yogi. He lived to the ripe old age of almost 15, leaving an indelible mark on our souls. Hence the name Yogi Hollow Farm. Three words that fit together so well to honor his legacy!
