Return to Piers Gill.
So what can I say that hasn't already been said about the notorious Piers Gill,
Point 1...
From Lingmell Beck (Wasdale) there's only one route up Piers Gill to Scafell Pike or Lingmell and that's this route (above the Gill on the Left Hand Side) and this route still involves an unavoidable scramble and the crossing of Greta Gill.
Point 2...
From Lingmell Beck there is definitely no safe route up the Right Hand Side of Piers Gill.
Point 3...
Most accidents are made from poor navigation in bad weather from the descent of Scafell Pike via the Corridor Route...why??...because the Corridor Route passes the top of Piers Gill and in poor weather the very dangerous Piers Gill can be mistaken as part of the Corridor Route.
Point 4...
Four people have died making this mistake in the past eight years in that time over forty people have also been rescued some with life changing injurys (four rescues in one month alone in 2024)
These rescues take a long time often involving multiple MRT teams Dogs Drones and Helecopters.
Point five...
My Humble Opinion!
Anyone even the best navigator can make a bad decision make a wrong turn make a mistake end up in that dangerous lonely place no one ever wants to go.
Point Six...
My final point...why not put them warning signs up ⚠️ in notorious black spots where multiple people have died.
Yes them signs some folk are so objective to saying they deface the beauty of the Lake District.
A sign to keep someone on the right path could save a Son/Daughter someones Dad/Mam a Husband or Wife a Mountain Rescue Team volunteer.
That sign could save someones family a world of pain.
Sorry if this sounds like a rant that's definitely not my intent thanks guys enough said...tek care stay safe 🙏🏻

The quiet side of Whiteside.
Ladyside Pike been a Birkett doesn't get much attention from the Wainwright baggers but belive me this route offers a bit of everything including seven Birkett Summits a cracking scramble onto the Summit of Hopegill Head and a fantastic ridge walk along Whiteside Edge to the Summit of Whiteside.
Not to mention atmospherics out of this world and two amazing Brocken Spectras
