Our Big Kitchen (OBK), founded in 2005 by Rabbi Dr. Dovid and Laya Slavin, is a transformative community kitchen in Australia addressing food insecurity. It cooks and distributes 250,000 meals annually, supporting 33+ charities. Born from a vision to help those in need, OBK rallies volunteers for group events combating hunger.
The kitchen's genesis in the Yeshiva Centre's basement reflects Rabbi Slavin's vision, leading to a large-scale industrial kitchen. Without government funding, OBK relies on collective effort, showcasing community spirit and divine guidance.
Beyond providing meals, OBK addresses the belief that poverty involves not just lacking money but also hope. With rising essential costs, vulnerable groups turn to charity for support.
Facing the increasing need, OBK seeks support through donations, event bookings, and volunteers. Joining OBK's mission contributes to alleviating hunger, providing hope, and building a stronger community in New South Wales.
