Explanation:
Surface tension is a concept which explains why some insects can skate on the surface of water and why a drop of water forms into a sphere.
A line when drawn on the surface is pulled on by two equal and opposite forces.
In this video we see an example in the case of a loop of thread in a soap film. If the film in the loop is punctured, the surface tension acts on the loop around its circumference and the thread loop becomes a circle.
