âStraight up me on the MPC 3000 and Mike on Processed guitar, playing off of each other as we created the track. Lyrics and flow are central to the joint and dictated the direction of the production and how we sculpted the arrangement. As always there are layers to the meaning but I also wanted to be crystal clear on what I was spitting. There are minimal to no overdubs. We somehow kept the heavy âwall of soundâ feel but stripped away superfluous layers to just the parts and pieces that were needed to complete this as a âdälekâ song. This is just a taste of what is coming.â - Dälek

Melvins 1983, the raw and unfiltered incarnation of the legendary band featuring Buzz Osborne and original Melvins drummer, Mike Dillard, return with Thunderball - their first full-length album in four years!

âThunderball is the third Melvins 1983 record weâve made together, and I wanted it to be bombastic - I think we achieved that,â says Osborne. âI also wanted to do something with electronic artists Void Manes and Ni MaĂŽtres for a long time. Both of them are exceptional talents. Their out-of-the-box use of electronics pushed Thunderball beyond my expectations.â
A preview of the five-song, 34-minute album is out now, with todayâs release of âVictory of the Pyramids.â Driven by Dillardâs unrelenting cadence, the song opens with an almost deceptively poppy feel before spiraling into the crushing, sludgy depths that have long defined the Melvinsâ sound. As Dillard said, itâs âa lovely blend of beautiful noise and gut-busting grooves.â The album was recorded by Toshi Kasai at Sound of Sirens Studios.
The band will be hitting the road starting in March on âThe Spring Break Tourâ and then embark on a massive nine-week, North American co-headlining trek with Napalm Death. All show will feature Osborne, Dale Crover, Steven McDonald and Coady Willis.
Melvins are also confirmed to play at Arctangent Festival in the UK in August, with more UK/EU dates to be announced soon!

After a string of mysterious and intriguing single releases throughout the final few months of last year, VENAMORIS, the duo of legendary drummer Dave Lombardo & singer-songwriter Paula Lombardo, have announced their second album of soulful dark pop (and first for Ipecac), TO CROSS OR TO BURN.

The first single is a cover of Scorpions' classic "Animal Magnetism", which you can watch the video, directed by Displaced/Replaced at venamoris.lnk.to/animal
The album also features the previous singles "In The Shadows" and "Spiderweb", as well as some amazing guests including Gary Holt, Trevor Dunn, Ra Diaz and Alex Skolnick.
About the new single, Dave says, "My first concert was May 25, 1980. Scorpions opening for Ted Nugentâs âScream Dreamâ tour. We(Slayer) had covered a couple Scorpions songs in the early years, but I never would have thought of re-imagining one of their songs at that time. Now it seems like the most natural thing to do.
The idea to re-create âAnimal Magnetismâ came to me late one night. I could hear Paulaâs sultry voice, the song taking on a slightly industrial feel... and I could fully hear Gary Holt play this insane lead. Itâs been really incredible to see this idea come to life.
To release this at the same time this iconic band is celebrating 60 years is a perfect way for me to thank them for an inspiring first show in 1980... and for all they have contributed since."
Paula offers insight into the album, ââTo Cross or to Burnâ has taken us down a darker, very different path than our first album. Thereâs a confidence in this body of work. An overall vibe of heaviness that was unexpected. Verses of hard truths now bound in acceptance. The soul-searching continues.â
