1 MONTH TO GO šŸ“†

I’m going to let Chat GBT sit this caption out so excuse the spelling, punctuation and grammar.

It’s just over a month away until I fly out to the USA to deliver two very different events.

Dog training has been my passion for 10 years now - in that time I’ve learnt a lot of lesson, some the easy way, some the hard way. Some a little bit harsher than others 🤣

In a nutshell - if you feel a bit lost with your dog, come to the reactivity workshop. I’ll personally hold your hand through everything you need to do to give your dog a better life and remove some stress from you while we’re at it. Or if you’re just interested to see how I do things - then this is your official invite to come along too.

And/or if you feel a bit lost with your Dog Business (even if you’re a groomer, walker, boarder) then come along to The Michael Ellis School for Dog Trainers where I’ll give you everything I know and every lesson I learned starting and growing a pretty sick business šŸ¤·ā€ā™‚ļø and I promise it won’t be ā€œmake sure you use hashtags on social mediaā€ - if this presentation doesn’t blow your mind I’ll dress as Dog Daddy the next time I trial my dog.

If you’re thinking about joining click the link below, we probably won’t be visiting the states again and if by chance we do it’ll likely be 2027 or later.

If you’ve got a full-time job and a high-energy dog, this video might change everything for you.

I’m lucky - my dogs come to work with me. But if I had to leave them home all day, this is the exact structure I’d use to drain their energy, meet their needs, and stop the guilt spiral before it starts. This isn’t fluff - it’s the full strategy.

If you’re relying on toys, chews, or a rushed walk… this is why it’s not working.

Things got really out of hand…

It’s been around five years now since Kirky and I started YCA.

For those who don’t know, Ian Kirke (or Kirky) is my business partner (pic 1), canine behaviourist, podcast co-host (pic 2), and - coincidentally - a five-time Grand Final winner with the Leeds Rhinos (pic 3) (which, for those outside the north of England, is a pretty big deal).
There were even rumours he dated Lindsay Lohan - he neither confirms nor denies.
You don’t see as much of him because he’s a little shy in front of the camera, whereas I… am not. (See, Mum? GCSE Drama wasn’t a waste of time.)

Anyway…
Since then, we’ve:
• Helped train 8,432 dogs
• Been featured in every major newspaper in England
• Had the opportunity to speak with world-renowned experts on our podcast
• Watched Stark win a bunch of trophies and titles
• Booked to deliver seminars in California and Australia
• Gained over 400,000 followers
• Had 40 million views on Instagram this month alone
• Worked with clients in 20+ different countries
• Been approached about a TV show multiple times (but always said no because we wouldn’t have creative control over our methods)

So yeah… things really got out of hand.

BUT
This isn’t about us - it’s about you and your dog.

šŸ‘‰ If you’re struggling or just feeling a bit lost with your dog right now, you can book a FREE call with one of our team. We’ll talk it through, learn more about what’s going on, and see how we can help - wherever you are in the world.

Dog training was HARD… until I understood this one concept.

Play isn't just fun. It's not optional.
For your dog, it’s as essential as food, water, and sleep.

Without it, you're building a pressure cooker - and sooner or later, it explodes.

In this video, I’ll show you exactly how we transformed a young German Shepherd from ā€œnot interestedā€ to fully obsessed with play - in less than 24 hours.

We break down:

• How to build toy drive from scratch
• How to use food and movement to activate your dog’s ā€œseekingā€ system
• And how to turn play into a powerful tool for real behavioural change

If your dog doesn’t care about toys (yet) - this video is for you.

Did you know the more obedient a dog is, the better their life becomes?

Some say obedience turns dogs into robots - I once believed the same.

I thought rules would strip away their spirit.
That freedom meant doing as they pleased.
But I was wrong.

True freedom isn’t the absence of discipline - it’s the result of it.
A dog without boundaries isn’t free.
They’re at the mercy of impulse, fear, and the world’s dangers.

Obedience doesn’t oppress. It liberates.
It allows them to walk with us, among us -
to experience life without restraint
because they know how to exist without disrupting the world around them.

My dogs move through the world with a freedom most will never know,
not because they lack choices, but because they understand them.

If you seek a deeper bond, a clearer path, and a life of true freedom for your dog, subscribe to the channel.

And if you're struggling to build that life - if your dog’s reactivity or lack of control is holding them (and you) back…

We help owners like you every day get real results with their reactive dogs, no matter where you’re based.

Book a FREE consultation call with one of our team, and let’s work out what’s not clicking — and how to finally move forward with confidence.

I stopped walking my dogs on a lead in 2025… and honestly? It was the best decision I’ve made for their behaviour.

It sounds bold - but if you're dealing with reactivity, frustration, or walks that leave everyone stressed…
You need to watch this. It's a total game-changer.

POLL: Be honest - how do you feel after most walks with your dog?

My journey started pretty much where you are now.

A reactive dog. Confused as hell. No clue where to start.

Here’s how it all unfolded:

Stage 1 – Adopt Ranger

Stage 2 – Think I’ve nailed puppyhood (I hadn’t, but that wouldn’t become clear until later)

Stage 3 – Adolescence hits. Reactivity starts to certain dogs

Stage 4 – Reactivity expands to all dogs

Stage 5 – 6am and 10pm walks just to avoid dogs

Stage 6 – Avoiding dogs seems to make it worse

Stage 7 – Hit the internet searching for solutions

Stage 8 – Guilt kicks in. Feel like I created this mess

Stage 9 – Hire a trainer. Get some improvements, but still loads of management needed

Stage 10 – Become obsessed. Read every book, watch every YouTube video, take every course. Listen to people with actual proof. Slowly but surely, it starts to click

Stage 11 – More freedom equals a more relaxed Ranger. A more relaxed Ranger makes training easier

Stage 12 – Start helping others so they don’t have to go through all this

Check out this video where I break down all the mistakes I made along the way: https://youtu.be/DHkp7e6Xfqo

After speaking to thousands of dog owners, I’m pretty confident the above sounds familiar.

Looking back, having a reactive dog was one of the most stressful times of my life. That constant guilt, feeling like your best mate is missing out on life because of behaviour you’re told is your fault.

Whether it was your fault or not, that’s a conversation for another day.

But if you’d like to skip straight to stage 12, I’d love to show you how.

Click the link below to book a call with one of our team. We’ll find out more about you and your dog, and if it’s something we can help with, we’ll show you exactly how. If not, we’ll tell you straight.

But after working with over 10,000 dogs, I’d bet good money we’ve got something that can help.

āš ļø Be honest — how many of these did you already know?

We just dropped a video on 3 silent dog killers. They’re common, they’re easy to miss, and they’re all preventable.

Now that you’ve seen it…

How many of the 3 did you already know about?

My no nonsense approach to dog training...

I just wanted to share a quick bit about my philosophy when it comes to training dogs.
I’ve never taken a sponsorship. No paid promotions. No affiliate links.

The day I do is the day someone starts telling me what I can and can’t say. That’s not happening.

I’m here for one reason only - to help as many dogs as humanly possible.
And censorship isn’t part of the plan.

So, with that in mind, here’s what I believe causes most cases of reactivity.
And more importantly, what we do about it.

1. Lack of freedom

Think of off-lead freedom like the release valve on a pressure cooker.
The more it’s opened, the less pressure builds.
The link between restriction and reactivity is massive.
The more freedom your dog has (when it’s earned), the more confident and relaxed they become.

2. Lack of drive expression

Your dog’s brain is built with systems that need to be used.
Some are for chasing, hunting, and problem-solving.
Others are there to protect and defend.
If your dog doesn’t get the chance to work those systems through structured play and training, they’ll find other ways to express them.
When dogs play, they chase each other (prey drive) and wrestle (defensive drive).
You can safely tap into both with games like tug.

3. Lack of life skills

And no, I don’t mean obedience.
Obedience is like knowing Pythagoras’ theorem or the capital of Mongolia.
Interesting, but not always useful.
Life skills are different....
Impulse control.
Letting go of things they want.
Recovering after a trigger.
Managing their arousal in real-world situations.
These are the skills that matter most when raising a balanced, well-behaved dog.

There’s no fluff in our programmes.
No hours of place training.
No silly games.
No unnecessary routines.

Just clear, structured training that gets results.

A to B. No shortcuts. No nonsense.

If that sounds like something you and your dog could benefit from, click the link below to speak with one of our team.
