Quote from The Captive Mind, Czeslaw Milosz.
"When someone is honestly 55% right, that's very good and there's no use wrangling. And if someone is 60% right, it's wonderful, it's great luck, and let him thank God. But what's to be said about 75% right? Wise people say this is suspicious. Well, and what about 100% right? Whoever says he's 100% right is a fanatic, a thug, and the worst kind of rascal"
Food for thought in an age where faux certainty is everywhere you look!

Hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas. I have a question - Who are your heroes? Comment below with which people from history or present day inspire you, speak to your values, make you feel hopeful? TWO RULES (sorry). ONE. No current politicians. I'm looking for your heroes, not your current political affiliation. And, sorry, but not your parents or family member. Public figures preferably, or if non-public figure, give us the potted story of why. And TWO. No criticising someone else's entry. Yes, no doubt someone else's hero is your villain, but save it for another day. Just positive post-Christmas glow entries please! Over to you.

UK voters! Interested to know. Who did you support at the most recent general election? (Listed in alphabetical order)

If Donald Trump was somehow removed from being able to stand in 2024, who do you THINK (not want, necessarily, but think) would end up being the Republican candidate?

One of the downsides of making ends meet with client work is that, occasionally, three or four things come in at once all with screaming urgent deadlines. This week I had video ideas sufficient to publish every day - or at least four out of five. But right now, I'm not sure if I can get one of those done in addition to the end of the week news review (Friday videos are sacred! Haven't missed one of those for a number of years now). I'm posting this to apologise in advance - if I can squeeze something into the schedule, I will. But failing that, see you on Friday.

I've had people lobbying me to do a deep dive on Covid vaccines and harm from myocarditis. What do you think?

Creating 'dangerously reasonable' content on politics, science, and particularly the bit where they bump into each other.
I aim to give an independent, fact-focused, non-ideological take on the issues that matter.
I look at the research and analysis without preconception, and talk frankly about what I find. You quickly find that some of the things you thought you knew for sure turn out not to have any solid basis - alongside the things that do, of course! Follow the channel to be challenged and entertained, probably occasionally infuriated!
Mallen spent two decades developing approaches to corporate social responsibility with some of the leading corporations in the UK and across the world. Before that, he dabbled in sort-of politics, initially as a Co-Chair and Principal Speaker with the Greens, and then latterly on the Federal Policy Committee of the Lib Dems and Chair of the Green Lib Dems. Mallen has been an unaffiliated floating voter for two decades since then.
