Question to my audience: What would you like this channel to focus on in the near future? I've been trying to figure out why some recent videos aren't doing that well and maybe I'm just not targeting my audience well enough. Let me know!

How is this NOT a chord? ... Join me this Friday for an in-depth lesson where we discuss one of the "best kept secrets" of thinking about jazz and piano playing in general.

No video this weekend. I'll be chilling - quite literally - in New York City, enjoying some snow and sub-zero temperatures. Hope to get back to action next week. Enjoy your own weekends!

Join me this upcoming Friday, Nov. 3rd, for the seventh installment in my Jazz Piano for Beginners series. I will be talking about tonicization and secondary dominants, which are one of the most powerful harmonic ideas in jazz and pop music. I'll show you how these ideas can be used to understand two well known pop songs: Yesterday by the Beatles and Just the Two of Us by Grover Washington Jr. Don't miss out!

There will be no video this weekend, unfortunately, as my country, Israel, and I deal with the aftermath of one of the most brutal and horrific attacks ever seen by Hamas terrorists. These creatures, unfit to be called humans, have raped women, beheaded babies, kidnapped teenagers and slaughtered entire defenseless families, with a death toll exceeding 1,200 and climbing. I mourn the lives of my friends and colleagues who have been brutally murdered, and stand with Israel and my people in the face of absolute evil. עם ישראל חי.

Join me for the fourth installment in the Jazz Piano for Beginners series today, Friday, 10 am EST. I've made a few cosmetic changes to the thumbnails, which I now think are a bit clearer and "pop out" a bit more. We'll talk about chord voicings, shell voicings, and voice leading in today's lesson. I hope you find it useful and hope to see you there!

This weekend, on September 29, we'll be taking a brief break from the Jazz Piano for Beginners course. We'll explore instead another cool and deceptively-simple musical idea, which is the plagal cadence, and how it can be used in somewhat unexpected ways. And there's a cool (I hope!) demonstration of it all at the end of the video! It's back to Jazz Piano next week as we discuss shell voicings, and then start talking about Functional Harmony. Stay tuned!

Yes, it's happening! My Jazz Piano for Beginners Series will start this upcoming weekend, on September 8th! This will be an extensive video series - about 20 videos or so in length - that will cover all bases a beginning/intermediate jazz piano player needs to know. Join me on this magical journey, suitable for all ages and backgrounds, into the wonderful world of harmony, soloing and jazz. No previous theory or knowledge needed.
