๐ฅ No worries, the Third World War isn't starting today, nor is a new conflict in the Middle East. Based on the information we have right now, Israel has ultimately chosen a "cosmetic" response to what was also a "cosmetic" attack by Iran against Israel last Saturday, April 13th. It seems that the Israeli retaliationโwhich some unconfirmed sources say might have involved drones launched from within Iran itselfโfocused mainly on non-strategic Iranian targets, specifically an air force base in the Isfahan region where outdated F-14 Tomcats are operational.
These targets are relatively close to some of the leading facilities of Iran's nuclear program, which is why the operation is being interpreted as both a warning to Tehran and a way to test Iranian defenses. It's not the first time Israel has carried out low-intensity attack operations in the country of the ayatollahs, and, certainly in this case, if what we know so far holds, the retaliation seems designed to prevent any escalation, allowing both Netanyahu and the Iranian regime to save face domestically.
