So... hypothetically, if my pals at Hand & Lock Embroidery and I were scheming to bring you a new embroidery kit design focusing on goldwork techniques, and which can be made up into a little item (bag, pocket, &c)... which design would be your favorite? š I'm not saying the winner will be incorporated into the final Harvest Moon project seen in the latest video, but... ok. I really could not choose between these two, so I'm leaving the final decision up to you!
You all seemed to really love the last kit H&L put together for the 18th century waistcoat video a few months ago; they could barely keep up with the demand!! :0 I'm continually amazed at how skilled and excited you guys are about craftythings. Schemes are being ... schum... to bring you some more nice treasures! š„°

š„STRIKE UPDATEš„
Hi all! Weāve been busy reworking content this week to align with SAG/AFTRAās strike guidelines. Scripts are being rewritten to eliminate struck media references where possible, and projects where this content is unavoidable will be held until the studios reach an agreement with workers.
August might be a bit sporadic on the channel as we fast track some fresh shenanigans into production, but Iām committed to standing with my fellow artists who deserve to be paid fairly for their labor. We donāt know how long this will last, but hereās what you can expect on the channel as long as strikes persist:
RESEARCH & EXPERIMENT VIDEOS: largely unaffected; any media references will be cut and projects released as normal.
SEWING VIDEOS: moderately affected; projects will be fairly small or generically themed. Projects which would suffer artistically from changes will be held. Some components of larger character-focused projects may be released independently without media affiliation.
COSTUME REVIEWS: largely affected. All projects currently on hold.
Iām deeply sorry if your favorite type of content is being impacted, but all will be back as soon as the studios decide to pay people. š¤
Meanwhile Iāll see you tomorrow with the results of my latest research escapade!

With the 2022 costume ranking video now released to the wild, I'll be taking a hiatus from uploads for the next couple of months to do some re-strategizing: formulating new video plans, experimenting with new techniques, filming styles and production schedules in an effort to make sure that the content here is as consistently beautifully produced as possible--without killing myself or my wonderful team.
While I am away, is there anything you'd like to see more of in future? Video essays, costume reviews, sewing videos, historical experiment tomfoolery? Which videos do you most look forward to?
Have a merry start to your new year and I shall see you again in Spring of 2023!

IT IS TIME.
The 2022 Costume Ranking Extravaganza is upon us!
I've been compiling a list of new period drama contenders throughout the year which will imminently be ranked according to how closely the clothes adhere to existing historical evidence. But I'd like to hear from you: which have I missed? Have you seen any particular faves (or horrors) this year?
Here are the selection criteria I've used in past years:
-A film or TV series released between 1 January and 31 December 2022
-Set anywhere from ancient civilization up to WWI
-Filmed in any language
-Set anywhere on existing Earth
-Can include fantasy/sci-fi/time travel so long as the clothes are meant to reflect an existing historical period
-Live action
I can't wait to hear from you (and to inevitably add copious things to my watch list)!
