We’ve just re-released this video which had been languishing in the archives as a private video but is now available to everyone to watch. From a tutorial I originally took part in with Hugh Brading of New Zealand back in 2001 this is a style that you’ll enjoy doing especially if you love to have a painting that takes a couple of days to complete. Looks lovely when framed! Do take a look at this video from four years ago! Paint White Flowers using Masking Fluid- Daisy Watercolor Painting Tutorial - Real Time Step by Step

You’ll be seeing the video tomorrow, if I can climb out of this pile of sketchbooks old and new that I’m going to share with you (click on the picture to see the full mess), along with details of the challenge. Let's share some wisdom from the community! We have quite a few beginners amongst us, and I've been asked about brushes quite a few times recently. You may have noticed that although I own most shapes and sizes of brush, I mostly use a couple of rounds with a good point - usually either Drawell or Princeton. But let's help each other out and share our knowledge and experience. Do you mostly use round brushes too, or do you reach for something different? Tell us what and why in the comments below!

YouTube has stopped sharing our latest video. Please go and take a look at it tonight, it’s here: Lost Your Watercolor Mojo? This Hummingbird Brings Back MOtivation + JOy!
https://youtu.be/w6ZsaGCxCrI and it’s possibly my best hummingbird ever. YouTube doesn’t like this kind of art, clearly. PLEASE leave comments on the video and likes so that they see that you approve of my little bird! THANK YOU!!!

After a week that left me feeling shaken and emotionally drained, I found myself reaching for the hummingbird—not just as a painting subject, but as a symbol of motivation and joy.Hummingbirds remind us to stay light, to move with grace and to seek out sweetness in life, just like they do.
In today’s video, I’m inviting you to join me in painting this radiant little bird with joy—not aiming for perfection, but to restore our spirits. Whether you’ve had a difficult week too, or simply want to reconnect with joy and feel more motivated, I hope this hour with me brings a little more calm and color to your day. The video will be posted at 9pm European time, midday Pacific time. And as a bonus we have some lovely shots of our animals and gardens at the end, so watch to the end !
