We're back at the cabin! Trev has been here since late August when a forest fire was getting a bit too close and he came early to set up our fire pump and sprinklers. Thankfully, just as it was getting to the point of a real possibility of having to use them, it rained!
I have to apologize for the very obvious lack of videos. When we left the cabin back in December of 22, I had a ton of footage all ready to make into videos over the time we would be away. Sadly and frustratingly, the hard drive I save all my stuff on broke. After taking it to be fixed, I was informed it would cost several $1000s to do so. Hence, no videos. Now, I'm backing up on 2 storage devices. Learn from my mistake! Don't trust portable hard drives to save precious memories without having another back up as well.
I hope you'll enjoy this video and I thank you for persevering with us. We really appreciate the support.

Leaving the cabin is always bitter sweet. We get to head home, see family and enjoy indoor plumbing! But, the peaceful existence we experience at the cabin is always missed.

We left the cabin to spend Christmas with family last week. The drive back home is long and a bit stressful as the roads are icy and pretty remote. After many years of driving on winter roads it finally happened. My car hit an extra icy patch on the Alaska Highway and we slid into a snow filled ditch. 200 miles from cell coverage and a tow truck! Thankfully, I had managed to slow down enough that the car gently stopped with it's nose buried in the snow. Trev was in the truck ahead of me and we were able to leave the car and carry on to Fort Nelson, BC and arrange for a tow the next morning. All ended well, with little to no damage to the car and we were on the road south again the next afternoon. That is apart from a 2K tow bill! EEK! Thankfully we have BCAA and will be submitting the bill for reimbursement!

I don't know about you, but I'm always looking for new YT channels to check out. My primary interests are living off grid and RV/Van/Car camping (see my other channel, Honey and Me). I thought it might be fun for us to share our favourites here in the comments and help others to find the channels you like and follow. I have a few to share...
OFF GRID HOMESTEADING With The Boss Of The Swamp - youtube.com/c/thebossoftheswamp
Far North Bushcraft And Survival - youtube.com/c/phreshayr
Alone in Remote Alaska - youtube.com/c/AloneinRemoteAlaska/videos. ( while she is not 'off grid', she does live alone in a fairly remote cabin in Alaska and is a really sweet gal!)

Greetings from the cabin! Well, winter has officially arrived with the freezing over of our lake! It will be awhile before we can actually take the quads on it and go bring in the skidoo, but it sure is pretty! I realized the other day that the lake spends more of the year under ice than not. Usually from mid October to May. Sometimes in June there is still ice in places, which we have taken advantage of by collecting for our cooler. I have videos ready to share with you, but can only upload shorts with our current signal strength. We're hoping by Remembrance Day, when we plan our next trip to town, we will be able to bring in the skidoo and use the lake ice as our shortcut out. And I can upload a few videos! Yay!! Til then, watch for #shorts! All the best to you all from us at the cabin! -Trev and Sue

Welcome to the Little Cabin in the Yukon! I'm so glad you found us! On this channel I share our time at our remote, off grid cabin in the Yukon Territory. I hope you'll enjoy your visit!
We are long time off gridders and outdoors people. We were living off grid long before it became trendy! We built our first off grid cabin on Northern Vancouver Island, over 37 years ago! Our next was in the Slocan Valley while I (Susan) was pregnant with our 1st of 5 kids. Years passed before we were finally able to purchase a remote piece of property in the Yukon where we have been spending our time living off grid whenever we can. It's been 20 years since we made that purchase and we have never regretted it! We have learned so much and enjoy how simple life can be when you cut it back to the bare essentials. Join us at the Little Cabin in the Yukon!
