What are the easiest guitar techniques?
GUITAR CHEFS.
Here’s the list of the 5 easiest guitar techniques.
1. Vibrato
Only uses your fretting hand. No picking needed.
If you handed a guitar to someone who’s never played before, they could figure it out that same day.
Sure, there are different types of vibrato — fast, slow, vertical, whatever.
But we’re talking basics here.
2. Open chords
G, C, D — the standard starter pack.
Every beginner learns them in their first lesson, and most can get them sounding decent pretty quick.
3. Barre chords
Yeah, they’re a step up from open chords.
But technically they’re still beginner-level.
If you’re still avoiding them…
That just means you’re a BITCH.
4. Palm muting
Ah yes, an essential technique for metal guitar.
You just place your hand on the bridge and play while slightly touching the strings.
If you’ve never played guitar before, it’ll probably take you more than a day to get it…
But it’s still easy as fook.
Some n00bs might disagree… and that sucks for them.
5. Pick scrape
You drag your pick across the strings and it makes a noise.
It sounds cool, but takes zero skill.
Alright, that’s it.
If any of these techniques give you trouble, you’ve got some practicing to do.

THE BRUCE LEE GUITAR EXERCISE.
It's deceptively hard. Most can't do it.
Actually come to think of it, I would also struggle with it. I haven't tried it, but it involves setting the metronome to 20bpm.
If you've ever used a metronome, you know that practicing at 120 would be way easier than practicing at 20.
Why?

The 5 most common alternate picking mistakes
GUITAR CHEFS.
If you’ve been alternate picking for a while but it still feels awkward, stiff, or just slow…
Chances are, you're making one (or more) of these 5 super common mistakes:
Mistake 1: Picking with your fingers instead of your wrist
This one’s sneaky. Most people don’t even realize they’re doing it.
But finger movement creates tension and kills accuracy.
You want that motion coming from the wrist. Always.
Mistake 2: Making huge picking movements
Most players don’t realize how big their picking motion actually is.
Big movements kill your speed and mess with your timing.
Try recording yourself.
You’ll probably be surprised how wide your movements are.
Mistake 3: Playing with tension
If your arm feels tight, your playing will suffer.
Speed comes from efficiency, not from brute force.
Breathe and relax dammit.
Mistake 4: Not using an anchor point
Letting your picking hand just float in the air?
Not ideal.
Lightly resting your palm on the bridge or unused strings gives you way more stability.
Mistake 5: Ignoring rhythm
You can pick fast, but can you pick in time?
If your subdivisions aren’t clear (8ths, triplets, 16ths), things will sound sloppy…
No matter how fast you are.
Try practicing with a metronome and saying the subdivisions out loud.
If you saw yourself in any of these — good.
Now you know what to work on.

If you’re not sweating, you’re not practicing
GUITAR CHEFS.
If your shirt is still dry after a practice session, you probably didn’t push yourself.
Simple as that.
During my alternate picking challenge, I was sweating like a maniac.
My ass, my arms, everything.
It felt uncomfortable as fuck, and I hated every second of it.
But I also knew — that’s the cost of building speed.
You’re training your hands to move with precision at high intensity.
That’s work. It’s physical.
It’s not supposed to feel chill.
I recommend wearing athletic clothes — it helps a bit.
Also, side note on the physiological bullshit…
Taking big deep breaths through your nose and out through your mouth makes a big difference.
It kept me focused and made the hard parts slightly more manageable.
So yeah — sweat, breathe, get uncomfortable.
That’s how you improve.

Move your damn hand when you pick
GUITAR CHEFS.
You have to actually focus on moving your right hand when you pick.
I know, sounds obvious.
But during my alternate picking challenge, I ran into this problem over and over.
As soon as I got to the B and high E strings, it felt like my hand was glued to the fuckin body of the guitar…
And it really messed with my accuracy and control.
Now, part of the issue was that I was sweating like crazy.
So sometimes I wore a wristband to give myself more mobility.
You can try that too, but don’t get dependent on it.
Because if you show up to a gig without it, you’re a bit fucked.
So here’s the point:
You can’t just let your hand stay in one spot and expect to play cleanly.
You have to move with the notes.
