The Department of CSE organized a Seminar on Leveraging Overseas Education for Carrier Education on 30.08.2024 at Lecture theatre in MGR Block. More than 100 students from various disciplines of CSE participated in the event.

The session speaker Mrs.GEETHADEVI .U an Expertise in overseas education for the past 18yrs who firmly believes that quality counselling and personalization of services plays a pivotal role in the admission process. She has travelled extensively to universities abroad and successfully placed students in top universities in her tenure. She heads the Canada division in the IDP Chennai Adyar office.

The Event focused on Carrier Education in UK, Ireland, USA, New Zealand, Canada and Australia. As an initiative in significant step by deciding to study overseas. it’s time to choose where and what to study. Navigating through hundreds of course and university options can be overwhelming. IDP will provide with personalized course recommendations that align perfectly with aspirations of young minds. They also offer a wide array of tools and resources – from city, university, and subject guides to cost calculators, scholarship finders and tons of insightful articles – to make your decision on where and what to study abroad smooth and stress-free.

The Department of Electronics & Communication Engineering organized a National Seminar on "IoT and Smart Home Integration" on Wednesday, July 31, 2024, from 02:00 to 04:30 PM at the APJ Conference Hall, APJ Block, VISTAS. The event was aimed at providing students with an in-depth understanding of the latest advancements in IoT (Internet of Things) and how it plays a crucial role in smart home integration.

Mr. Nixon E, the Founder of TechKnots, served as the resource person and speaker for the seminar. With his extensive experience and expertise in the field, he delivered an engaging and insightful session, covering key aspects of IoT technologies, their applications in smart homes, and the future of connected living. The seminar offered students a valuable opportunity to gain knowledge directly from an industry expert, enhancing their understanding and inspiring them to explore further in this cutting-edge area of technology

One-Day Workshop on
“Artificial Intelligence & Virtual Reality using Unity 3D”

The Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering, School of Engineering, successfully organized a one-day workshop on “Artificial Intelligence & Virtual Reality using Unity 3D” on 21st August 2024. The event took place in CEB 203, V.O.C Block and was attended by both students and faculty members.

Session I: The workshop began with a captivating video visualization of a virtual operation theatre, which immediately engaged the participants and set the tone for the day. This session continued until 1:15 PM, during which participants and faculty members experienced a live demonstration of virtual reality (VR). The presenter effectively explained the integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and VR, highlighting their applications across various industries and their impact on society. Feedback from participants indicated that the concepts were presented clearly and were easy to understand, especially with the help of demos. The session covered topics such as face detection, creating a custom ChatGPT, interior design using Unity 3D, and detecting unusual occurrences to aid societal issues, all of which were highly impressive.

Session II: In the afternoon, the focus shifted to AI and its various algorithms. The presenter demonstrated a clear understanding of supervised and unsupervised learning techniques, along with the handling of structured and unstructured data. The session delved deep into deep learning algorithms, including Convolutional Neural Networks (CNN), Recurrent Neural Networks (RNN), autoencoders, and Generative Adversarial Networks (GANs). The presenter’s explanation of these complex topics was particularly beneficial for participants looking to apply AI algorithms in their future research. The session provided valuable insights into selecting appropriate algorithms for specific research tasks, especially when dealing with limited datasets.

Overall, the workshop was highly informative and provided participants with a strong foundation in both AI and VR, equipping them with the knowledge to pursue further research in these cutting-edge fields.

We are pleased to announce the successful completion of the Guest Lecture on “BIS Standards for Products and Their Importance,” followed by a Quiz Program, organized under the Student Standard Club activity at Vels Institute of Science, Technology and Advanced Studies on 2nd August 2024.

We extend our sincere gratitude to the BIS Chennai branch ‪@BISChennai‬ for their invaluable support and collaboration in making this event a success. The insights shared during the lecture were highly informative and beneficial for our students, helping them gain a deeper understanding of the importance of BIS standards in various products.

We look forward to continued collaboration in the future to provide more such enriching experiences for our students. We are also delighted to share that our students excelled in the quiz competition, winning both prizes and certificates.
