In March 2022, as Russian forces overtook the Ukrainian town of Bucha, dozens of civilians were killed in three days of violence concentrated on Yablunska Street. Russian authorities would later claim that images of the massacre were staged.
But the stories of survivors suggest that many civilians were not merely caught in the crossfire, they were deliberately targeted.
In a new investigation, RFE/RL's Ukrainian Service used surveillance video, drone footage, and military records to piece together a complete picture of the bloodiest days on Yablunska Street and identify some of the officers responsible.

Ukraine's Security Service (SBU) shared a video on June 3 it described as a strike on the Kerch bridge linking mainland Russia with the occupied Crimean peninsula.
The SBU said it used 1,100 kilograms of explosives to hit the bridge's supports. Russian sources said traffic across the Kerch Strait reopened hours after the attack.
