Why I’ve Left the EA Creator Network
I’ve been a bit nervous to write this because I’m not sure how people will react, but I really want to be open and honest with you all.
First of all, I want to make it very clear that I have so many friends in the EA Creator Network, and this decision is not a dig at anyone involved. I completely understand why creators would want to be part of it. For me, this choice comes down to personal reasons.
I joined the network early last year, and it truly has been an amazing opportunity as a creator. If you’re not familiar with it, the EACN allows creators to get early access to new content, run giveaways and earn commission through affiliate links.
That said, over time, I’ve realised there are aspects of being in the network that no longer sit right with me personally.
To clear up a common misconception: creators in the EACN are not paid to say specific things. We’re allowed (and encouraged) to be honest and critical in our opinions. For example, when inZOI launched and many creators shared criticisms, some people assumed we were being paid to downplay it, which wasn’t true. But the fact that people assume that says a lot and it’s part of the reason I decided to step away.
I often get asked whether certain packs are worth buying, and I’ve always done my best to give honest answers. Still, I’ve felt like some people may question my opinions because of my affiliation with the network. And honestly, I don’t blame them. Even though we’re free to critique the game, it can feel a bit awkward when you’re technically affiliated with it.
Right now, with how things are in the game, the quality, bugs and the pricing, I just don’t feel comfortable continuing to be associated with it. It feels contradictory to be promoting something I personally don’t feel great about.
You might’ve also noticed that I recently started collaborating with Instant Gaming. I want to be transparent and say that my decision to leave the EACN was made well before they reached out. I don’t know how long that partnership will last, but I’d never leave something like the EACN just for another opportunity. It’s simply a coincidence of timing.
Leaving the network does mean I won’t get early access, be able to run giveaways, or earn commission through affiliate links anymore but I’m totally okay with that. I make content for way more meaningful reasons than free stuff or money.
More than anything, I want to be a creator you can trust 100%. I know many of you already feel that way and I appreciate you so much for it, but for me, stepping away from the EACN is just the right choice to stay true to myself and to you.
This might all sound a bit dramatic, but I just wanted to clear the air and make sure there’s no confusion.
