Delta is usually on time. Fewer cancellations. Have great customer service (online and phone). The best airline app. Lounges in most airports. And they are very responsive - I flew last month on the Friday of the IT outage and they were great. Sure, not Asian-level on-board service, but good enough.

If you fly domestically in the US for on time results, cancellations, and free upgrades you can’t do better than delta. My company has banned us from flying all but Delta, United, and Alaska (jet blue doesn’t exist in most places we go) and of the three delta is the way to go everytime. Especially if it’s a 1 stop flight!

To be fair I know a lot of people who say Delta is one of the best US airlines including myself. These people also don't consider a premium airline nor do they fly business class. I think part of it is just what Americans value and also just the fact that a majority of Americans don't fly business class frequently. Delta has been the most reliable airline for me when something goes wrong or making sure something doesn't go wrong in the first place. They aren't necessarily the most polished, but they seem to care the most in terms of helping customers that need it. As a non-frequent flier, flying is stressful, and not being stressed is worth a lot, and Delta is one of the best US airlines at not making me stressed.
It's like asking me what I want in an airport. I don't care about lounges because I don't get to use them. I don't really care about fancy features like waterfalls or whatever. I do always prefer a jet bridge over landing stairs. That being said, I get other people might value other things and not only that, but maybe a majority of people around the world might value other things.

So agree!! I recently flew first class United on short haul international to Punta Cana had an onboard meal served with glasses and actual plates, and lounge access. Flew back on Delta as first class was given a sandwich in a box, and refused lounge because I didn’t fly Delta One or held the right credit card. I used to prefer Delta but now I’m definitely reconsidering United

in my opinion, i think delta is great for economy flying because it is a higher standard and seems to have less nickel-and-dime fees, and it's more standard to have the 'nice' amentities of premium economy on other airlines all the way through the planes. I have never flown any sort of fancy class in my life, so this is just comparing cheap to cheap! and in that respect, i do consider it a nicer choice

I will tell you why. Speaking for my self.
1. BEST CUSTOMER SERVICE
2. Better codeshare partners (based on my travel patterns)
For me when my trip has issues, delta has always come to the rescue. United did not give a shit. American was MIA. When I try to book, I always end up booking Delta even when it costs more cause I know they got me.

Plus, their seats in general are the most roomy and comfy than any other in the Other airlines. Mind you, I can’t afford premium seating but as a regular passenger I’m very satisfied with Delta ! The worst seating all around is Frontier and Southwest! But since they are the least expensive to travel on are used the most. Continental used to be top notch and affordable, but once they were taken over by United their prices skyrocketed and comfy seats somehow disappeared. 😢

I never thought Delta was a premium US airline, just less bad than the others
