God bless all the filthy pirates that ripped the entire N64 library then uploaded it to the internet. You made my childhood

I still have my Dr. 64 Jr. Really enjoyed "renting" games from blockbuster back in the day...

Thank these heroes for their contributions. Now I can enjoy thousands of games I could never afford as a kid.

Fun story: the GameShark Pro had an LPT port too & while the software that Interact released had the checkbox and corresponding text hidden, I found it while poking around trying to figure out how it all worked. It was simple with a resource viewer like Restorator, and is exactly the software I used to make the patch to the Interact software and it allowed me to dump my own ROMs.

I then released the patch by itself (for those that just needed the small patch but already had the software installed) plus released an all-in-one version for anyone who didn’t have it installed yet but needed the GS Pro software still…so it would patch the exe as you installed the official software. Man thinking about all that has made me relive some of those times and the nostalgia kick in & make me miss being a kid!

Anywho, thank you & cheers šŸ»

Kinda neat that the v64 file format it created will far outlive its original context

Renting a blockbuster game with this must have been nice.

Y’all’s game rips really made my computer class in elementary school. Mario 64 was so much fun playing behind the teachers back.

Still blows my mind till this day that the entire Goldeneye n64 game is only 12mb, I have single hi-res images that are way larger than that.

"...or 6AA batts..." Oh man, nostalgia! I dumped an entire paycheck on a Dr. V64 back in early 2000. Best imvestment ever. Until Gamecube released.

The guys who did this back then are the reason almost any game can be emulated nowadays

I went to an anime con in the late 90s where one room party was a "pirate party" where I saw one of those, as well as dumpers for neogeo and a bunch of other arcane systems

I miss Bung, that company made great stuff. Loved their GB flashcarts

It's amazing what those guys did back then. I was probably emulating SNES at the turn of the century and its crazy that our shitty HP Pavillion Desktop PC was able to emulate N64 and PS1 games so shortly after the systems were around.

And thank goodness they did, otherwise many of these games would be lost forever.
