Mine usually don't go dormant inside unless I force them or every other year. It's always warm inside, and if I keep watering and in a lit spot, it doesn't sleep. If I neglect it and allow it to die back, the pot will look empty, and it will sleep til I wake it up. I sat one outside last spring and it grew like crazy all season. It loved that Texas humidity.

Thanks for the warning! I currently have 2 Alocasia. I recently had to cut off 2 leaves the new plant as they started dripping sap & is now down to 1 leaf😭.
The other, which survived last winter with all her leaves (and no humidifier in a very dry condo & no grow light) recently developed brownish spots of three leaves once put under a grow light. Perplexed to say the least. Heartbreaking — I love my Alocasias!

My Frydek had 3 leaves when I bought it in May, but 2 quickly went yellow and died. The third got a few yellow blotches but stabilised and has been stable since about July-ish.
And about 10 days ago, it joined the 2 leaf club again! The new leaf is so much bigger and it's absolutely perfect!
Please don't tell me that I'm going to lose these leaves, Mr. Sheffield!
I do have it in front of a window and under (cheap Amazon) grow lights.
Humidity has dropped slightly in here since I put the underfloor heating on last week and is down to 65%, but I'm keeping an eye on it, and I can always start up the humidifier if it drops much lower.
