Start by not putting your parents on a pedestal. They are their own people, as you are your own person. Every child wants to be in a position to help their parents financially, but itās the parentsā job to make sure their kids donāt have to. Just live your life. There is a bit dilemma in asian parents on being strictly communist and at the same time they have high expectations on thier children. Maybe it is a bit related to what Jordan Peterson told on Harvard students who tell others that they are oppressed by the elite but at the same time they are the elite. He concluded that they want to be everything to take the control and not to face chaos. Their boundaries of expectations aren't set maybe because their understanding of their own value is shaped by the economical success due to poverty and survival mode. But the West can distinguish this differences.

I worked for an Indian family at a hotel. My boss told a friend of mine that she was upset over the kids at her son's school being racist against him. They were calling him an Arab, which he wasn't. He was born in the USA, and, like I said, his parents were Indian. While I was working the front desk, her son and her niece were annoying me begging me to play with them. Just being kids, but they were a lot. I didn't have any children of my own then, so I didn't have the patience I do now. So I asked the boy, "Don't you have friends?" He said he had lots of friends in school, so I asked him, "why don't you go play with them?" He said he had to stay home. I asked him, "so why don't you invite them over some time so you can have someone to play with?" He said, "BECAUSE, they're WHITE PEOPLE! DUH!"
