If there's one thing that gets me excited for the spring and summer, it's smelling wild garlic in the woods.
It was only a few years ago that I learnt that you could eat wild garlic and it tastes EXACTLY like garlic. It even smells like it too!
🌱 The beauty of this plant? It grows in absolute abundance. At least where I'm from.
Every year, I feel so blessed to smell and taste this natural food, and while I was on a walk in the forest the other day, I came across loads of it by our sacred space.
🔮 If you fancy yourself a bit of a green witch or a kitchen witch, wild garlic is the perfect beginner plant to forage.
The leaves are totally edible. You can eat them straight from the ground (but give them a rinse first!)
Foraging can be a challenge and a bit dangerous when you don't know what to look out for, but wild garlic is perfect for beginner foragers.
🌱 It smells exactly like garlic, and often reminds me of the warm, summer months.
I always get excited when I smell and spot it in the forest.
