As a beginning farmer, Michael Levine of Avalon Acres in Hollis, Maine, was expecting to use federal funds to help scale up his business and support the long-term health of his land. Without government incentives, farmers can't make climate smart choices, which increases strain in an already challenging profession. The loss of these funds puts farmers in jeopardy and decreases the strength of our food system overall.
