I’ve been journaling almost half my life now (eight years) and even though I don’t daily journal, it has become such a habit that every few days I always make time to journal. I can always look back on whatever happened, however long ago even if it’s boring and it always makes me feel better that I’m not forgetting my life!! ❤😊

I've been daily journaling for 3 years now. Something I have noticed recently is that the night seems to sneak up on me and I don't like that. It makes me feel like the day went by too quickly and I didn't do anything productive.
One of my favorite journal entries was acknowledging this feeling of the day passing me by. I wrote about that and then I wrote how I knew this feeling wasn't the truth because I had done so many things that day that were productive and made me happy. So I wrote out a list of all the “Meaningful Moments” from that day. I wish I could show you the entry because it was such a good one and I love looking for meaningful moments every now. :))

Looking back, I have a habit of writing something along the lines of "I don' t want to write down the details" on the more "difficult" entries.
I don't know if it's just me not wanting to relive the moments, not wanting to get bogged down on the minute details, or if I'm too scared to face the actual issues I had...

After daily journaling for 7 and a half years, I’ve noticed a reoccurring trend in what I write about…
I write about a wiiiide range of things, of course, but yet one of the things that consistently shows up in my writing is how tired I am, how much I’m looking forward to sleep that night, or how much I appreciate rest.
Don’t get me wrong, I think rest is a wonderful thing, and it’s not a bad thing to write about it! In fact, it can feel quite therapeutic sometimes. But when I read back through my entries and see that my tiredness consistently shows up, it makes me ask myself… WHY?
Why do I consistently write about being tired?
➡️Is it because I genuinely am too tired? Do I need to prioritize rest more? Adjust my lifestyle?
➡️Is it because it’s an easy, go-to thing to write when I don’t want to be more creative with my words? Do I need to challenge my thinking and expand my creativity? Is something in my life contributing to this?
➡️Have I just gotten into a bad habit of writing the same thing over and over? Do I just use it as a filler to finish the page? Why might I be doing that?
SO HOW DOES THIS CHANGE YOUR LIFE?
What I love about journaling is that it gives you the opportunity to reflect on things like this. Reflecting on your daily journaling allows you to identify these trends and then make a change.
It gives me the ability to look at my day to day and say, “Wow! I write about that a lot. Do I really want to look back at my daily life and see myself in that way? Is that who I want to be? My life is so much more than being tired! What can I do to make a change? What would I like my journal entries (and therefore my mindset and life) to look like instead?”
Journaling helps you see your life from a broader perspective, so you can notice things that you may not have seen otherwise. Then, you can make adjustments to work on your weaknesses and strengthen your wellbeing. The pages are a reflection of yourself, so you can realize who you are and work on becoming a stronger version of yourself.
What are your thoughts? Do you notice trends in your writing?
