On a similar vain, I was on an International flight back to the UK, and they came over the PA that anyone with $1 notes could they please hit the "attendant" button. Here's me, with $40 in $1 notes, as I had yet to exchange them back into £s. Not only did I help them out with the $$ but they very kindly let me have a free beer and some extra snacks.

All my clients' Laundromats are $1 coins & they do see outsiders come in to get change for personal use. Good thing is we have a bank with Smart Teller where we can get change when needed that also counts the coins deposited but this did stop the local shops breaking $50 into $1 coins. We used to have licenced clubs with Poker Machines (Slots in USA) who would count your $1 coins from winnings or give you change to play them. But in the last 25 years they 90% played with notes now.
