This advice right here changed my life. No video has ever left/led to such a lasting massive impact on my life. I struggled so bad with motivation to do the things I want to do. I fell behind on classes, let people down, let myself down because I couldn't follow through with some of the biggest plans I had made for myself. But this has changed everything. Really happy I heard this, and I hope others hear this too. And not just hear it, but let it really sink in, and think about it.

Tried this one today and it was great. Not the 4 hours recommended but a healthy hour and a half. Gave me time to shake myself up from sleep, give me time to move around to prepare brekkie, poo and shower and basically gave my mind a gentle peace, where nothing is in your mind other than eating, pooping and showering, in order to sort things out I wanna do today.
I say for those that sees the 4 hours are very steep, try the 1h 30 minutes I did. One of the worst things to do is do something performatively rather than wholeheartedly because your mind will fight back. From there increase it AT YOUR OWN PACE to the recommended 4 hours.

I'm mainly a digital artist so staying off technology is really hard especially with all the little tricks my mind keeps coming up with to test my weak impulse control with things that would "benefit" me. Watching tutorials, searching for reference etc. All things that would be good under normal circumstances but it traps me in this state of preparation until I'm ready for the task, thing is I'm always ready with the skills I currently have, what I need help with only becomes apparent once I've worked on something for a while. That is incredibly hard because it feels like I'm pushing a boulder uphill that is four times heavier than it needs to be while imaginary squirrels are gnawing at my feet so I look down and once I've realised there's nothing there I see the boulder almost at the foot of the mountain again.

There is a lot of truth to this. When I used to get up and go straight for a run for an hour at 6am no devices and then an hour after to fix breakfast and shower etc (although I did get music playlists up quickly on my phone) I had a lot more motivation for the rest of the day and found it easier to enjoy smaller sessions of gaming or whatever. I remember breath of the wild coming out and noticing how I was enjoying it and getting immersed in such a huge game but still being able to put it down when I had enough, not just compulsively playing.
I also found having those extra hours in the morning to just ‘be’ not really doing anything charged me up to do a ton more in the day. I never understood why, now it makes sense.

I found the best hack for that! My life has been so much more balanced with my ADHD since I started seperating my days in 2 with two nights instead of one full night of sleep and one full day with more than half the day forcing myself to be operational. I sleep from 12 to 6 am and 12 to 4 pm! 2 dopamine rush per day 😊

I'm listening to this at 8:30 at night after a sobriety meeting. Sounds like good advice, thanks 👍
