As a kid in Aussie my Mum n Dad and
I lived on a leading road into the
West end of a suburb. On the other side
Of the road was a large pocket of locked
In bush , so many critters lived there due
To the expansion of housing .
We had a beagle dog ,lovely boy !
Not good inside , so we got rescue cats .
All of them got on with the dog , we had
About 5 cats over 12 years as they were
Not street wise and the fasination of
Bush critters was to great .
One cat Kelly , she was a big cat ....
Mum and i would give affection but
Dad disliked cats and refused her
Moves of affection to him so she felt
She had to do something.
We left the back door a jar so kelly
Could come n go , one night dad was
Asleep and he rolled over and his face
Went onto i rotting carcass of a turtle !
Dad woke , put the light on and swore
Waking all of us .....few nights later the
Same thing happened but with a dead
Bird .
The cat worked out that dead things
Weren't working as a gift .
Few nights later in mum n dads room
We herd thump thump bang bang ,
Again in shock we all woke up , dad swore again , this time kelly had dragged a live rabbit onto the bed and
When the light went on she let it go .
The rabbit went nuts bouncing ,crashing ,
Dad was not happy ! kelly caught the
Rabbit killed it and ate it outside.
Still dad would not give any affection
Watching TV or relaxing.....
A week later , during the night again
Mum n Dad woke to the cat meowing
In a muffled way and gerrring , Dad
Put the light on and kelly was between
Mum n dad near there shoulders with
A live venomous dugite snake ! Dad
Said nothing, he got up put a glove on
From the draw and carefully removed
The snake from Kelly's mouth .
Went outside to the garage and cut the
Head off and gave the rest to kelly .
The next night mum and i said to dad
That the cat is buying your affection
It will continue until you give it !
With that mum picked up kelly and
Put her on dads lap , he started patting
Her , all the games stopped and dad
Started to like then love the cat .
She was an amazing cat ,had deep
Feelings for all of us .
Dad was broken hearted when she was
Run over , but we got another lovley
Cat and dad learnt his lesson !❤❤
