Mary can't resist the urge to visit the lab one last time, hoping to uncover more about Jekyll's dark alter ego. This decision proves to be her downfall, as she is suddenly attacked by Mr. Hyde, who holds a knife to her throat. The tension between the two characters is palpable, as Mary struggles to break free from Mr. Hyde's grasp. But just as she thinks she is doomed, Mr. Hyde has a sudden change of heart and injects himself with the antidote. Mary is forced to witness the horrific transformation of one man into the other, as Mr. Hyde becomes Dr. Jekyll once again. However, the relief is short-lived, as Jekyll reveals that Hyde has mixed poison with the antidote, causing Jekyll to slowly die in Mary's arms.
