"a traumatized child is still a living child" is such a HD comment 😂

Safe enough for me. It’s not like the terminal to raise the cannon is right there in the open, waiting for a little kid to press the big red button!

It’s kind of poetic in a way. Children who grew up playing on those very playgrounds now use the hidden weapons underneath them to defend their home.

Actually this is extremely smart considering how the play grounds and the guns need an open area as well as the guns needing a whole six digit code so some kid isn't accidently activing it

Lets be honest
Those children won't be traumatized by the cannon, they would probably think it's the most awesome thing they ever saw.

Makes actually total sense. This honestly isn’t Evan a joke. Hidden in plain sight, and it’s not like a kid could even accidentally cause these weapons to go off. It’s also extremely efficient in the sense that only one needs to be used at a time

Imagine being a little kid and seeing a squad of helldivers fighting tooth and nail to secure your favourite playground during an alien invasion tho!!!!

As a former child, that would only have made the playground that much more fun to play on

It makes sense cause neither the orbital cannon or the playground are operational or needed while the other is operating

They have safety locks, guarded by the terminal that clearly only the skilled can operate. Even a helldiver struggles a little to open the locks, so i believe that little timmy is not going to accidentally activate the cannon.

They were clearly a necessary evil for the defence our home. The way I see it, these orbital defence cannons should be installed on all our colonies. They'd be tremendous assets in keeping the skies clear for our fleets.

What is more dangerous? Defense Cannon's previously hidden underneath a playground shooting away from you, or the invading ships firing lazes at you?

I rest my case.

When the invasion happened the first thing I noticed was a lack of defensive weapons such as these.. I was confused to the marker location then totally blown away when they rose from the seemingly innocent playgrounds! My favorite moments ngl

It’s for emergency’s only, just in case any foolish undemocratic squids came, and it was hidden so that they couldn’t get destroyed

I remember first seeing them and I thought it was a genius and awesome move. First of all if they were in a building it would limit space and it could be knocked down, makes it easier to supply shells to them, and being under only a playground makes the doors much lighter making them easier to open and do maintenance on. Secondly there being a big cannon under the playground you grew up playing on that is now defending Super Earth is awesome! I’d bet that the children that later play on the playground would play pretend, training to become Helldivers that could defend Super Earth once again if needed.

Parks are centrally located and open designs. It's the perfect place that guarantees there isn't a heavy load structure over the installation.

Great idea all round.

"traumatizing?" Bruh, the kid in me wants one of these as a playset, complete with little wheels that don't actually operate it and a terminal that just has a big button on it that lights up the end of the barrel

Why are we questioning the fact that Super Earth keeps some of its most treasured assets in the same place

It makes sense.
Not only what you talked about but also the fact a playground would probably be empty during an invasion. Wide open for clear shots and in major locations
