I was on the Texas several times through the years. I was privileged to spend the night aboard her with my son's Cub Scout troup. I look forward to seeing her fixed up.

I've been on this ship several times I respect history I respect our servicemen my grandfather was in the Navy my cousin was in the Navy my aunt was in the Air Force but the money that was spent to restore this ship should have went to clean up the toxic water in the San jacinto River below it it has made a lot of people sick those who do not have city water who rely on well water it has even made me sick on several occasions and I think I might be assuming but I know that my grandfather and my other family members that has served in the military would have preferred the money to have been spent on cleaning up the toxic water because I have suffered several health issues due to it. Because the way I look at it they served for freedom meaning of freedom also to be healthy. That's just my opinion coming from my experience of health issues from the water. Don't get me wrong I believe it is a beautiful ship that served an amazing purpose but I also believe that that purpose what's to help our Americans. I'm not dissing anyone that supports the restoration of the ship but when you have not just the youth in that area but the elderly sick because I didn't want to use that money I can't help but I have an issue with it.
