My parents owned some of those thick 78’s…..I remember flipping them over in their packet….I don’t remember what was on them, but perhaps The Blue Skirt Waltz? Dad used to dance around to that song while holding us little ones. A good memory. Happy Days !

Just found your Chanel I’ve never laughed so hard. Your sense of humour in the face of adversity is what I did not know I needed today

You will relish those records when you are able to listen to them 🎶

I recently bought a record player after not having one for thirty years. Listening again to my favourites from the 1970s and 80s was a delight

I remember that my lovely grandfather had a large collection of 78s. Really hope you find a record-player soon.

Best treasure yet. I hope you can get a player and that they are not damaged although maybe a studio somewhere could restore them if they are. I’m excited for an update and to hopefully hear them played after all these years. Someone please reach out to help with this. Good luck with everything.

Although my Treasure Tuesday happened to be on Thursday, it is yet the utmost pleasure to learn about your treasures.❤

I used to own a variable-speed turn table that allowed 78. Then the Roman Conquest happened and I traded it for an 8-track player. 😄

Oh, how lucky you are to have found so many old records. That's just marvelous. In my youth, I collected records (not professionally, of course, just for fun) but as I got older, and so did my children, I gave them to my kids who said they'd take care of them. As we all know, technology changed everything and it became difficult to locate record players. As a result, the records were hidden away but not cared for properly and most warped. I do miss listening to those records while cleaning. Too bad I also misplaced my 'magic eight ball' as it would have been nice to look into my future in retirement and see that I'd, once again, have time to actually listen to records. Enjoy the sounds from the past and hopefully, the records aren't too badly damaged.

As kids in the early 60's, we found one old record, in our friends shed, along with a wind-up record player. We played a very scratchy version of "Come Down The Mountain Katie Daily " over and over, for several days, in our secret den. 😂

I wish I had these! I have a portable 1929 gramophone & it’s so difficult to find 78s!

I think it's awesome you've found so many cool old records. I hope you can find a good phonograph to play them on. And then maybe you'll share with us over here on the YouTube! ❤

Apparently the really old records (wax) can be melted down to reveal quite a nice cheese platter. My son is a dj so I have a couple spare needles if you need?

I remember my Grandpa had about 100 of these old records back in the 1970s. They were kept in one of the out buildings on their farm in South Dakota and unbeknownst to everyone the chickens gained access through a window in the back. It wasn't a total loss but there sure was a lot of poo to deal with! A few of them were thin like contemporary record albums but most were actually quite thick. We never tried to listen to them though. Hope you find a proper phonograph record player soon!
