Hurricane Milton 🌪️ The Most Dangerous Storm of the Year Strikes Florida 🌊

🌪️ Hurricane Milton has become the most dangerous storm of the year, and it’s heading straight for Florida, giving residents very little time to prepare. But what exactly makes this hurricane so dangerous, and what is a hurricane in the first place? 🌊 Hurricanes are born from two key ingredients: heat and wind. When warm ocean water evaporates, it rises into the atmosphere, forming clouds ☁️ and releasing heat, which strengthens powerful updrafts. 🌬️ As these updrafts begin to spin, they form a tropical cyclone - a process that can evolve into a full-blown hurricane. That’s exactly what happened with Hurricane Milton, which developed from a tropical cyclone to a catastrophic Category 5 hurricane 🌪️ in just 24 hours - the most extreme category possible. What makes hurricanes like Milton so deadly? 🌊 The biggest threat is storm surges - when powerful winds push massive amounts of water onto the coast, causing severe flooding 🌧️ and widespread destruction. But that’s not all. Hurricane Milton is also producing unusually strong tornadoes 🌪️ along its edges, intensifying the danger across Florida. With winds and rain stretching across the entire state, the destruction could be massive. ⚠️ Typically, evacuation warnings are issued 72 hours before a hurricane makes landfall, but Hurricane Milton’s rapid intensification has left residents with far less time to escape.

I was out in the gulf as this happened, no joke. It’s terrible in the gulf. We were on a carnival cruise ship, called carnival paradise, we ported out into sea in Tampa, then we had to go to Miami to port off the ship because of how much damage it caused to Tampa. We had busses that took us from Miami to Tampa, then we had to drive to Georgia, because that’s where we lived. We got home at about 3 am last night. The boat was rocking like crazy in the sea. Even in the Caribbean Sea it was bad. I’m glad to who ever lived in Florida survived this hurricane.

It’s been an absolutely insane Hurricane season. Parts of Georgia and North Carolina are still recovering from Hurricane Helene.

I’m in Florida. I’m in Orlando. It was basic. It wasn’t that strong. I’m so happy it wasn’t that strong but did yes. Lots of people from Tampa came here because they lived near the water, but yes, everything was filled and he didn’t recommend anyone go outside because the drains weren’t working, but it wasn’t that bad everybody was safe safe

I live in Florida... for those who wanna know... we got 129 tornado warnings that day... 18 of those tornados touched down. One was enormous. It was something seen in places like Oklahoma.

Also, a 140 minute tornado was confirmed from Hurricane Milton, starting at 9:42am, and ending at 12:02pm, as an EF-1 tornado.

This tornado started in Collier County FL and ended in Glades County FL.

I'm from Havana, Cuba and I'm so glad it didn't get to hit our region directly cause otherwise the damage would've been absolutely catastrophic. Hope everyone in Florida is doing OK now😢

I can kinda relate to this as we have had to deal with a bomb cyclone recently and we had a tornado warning (nowhere near where I lived thankfully) but definitely endured hurricane force winds and power outages, 2 women were also killed during it so I can relate, I hope everyone in Florida is doing well and recovering quickly!
