Plot twist: Mr. Stabtheking is actually the court member who is by far the most loyal to the king out of anyone.

Good on Jeff for making it to the position of Grand Vizier with a Surname like THAT!

The Stabtheking name is very prestigious after Jeffâs grandfather was able to gain a tyrant kingâs trust and successfully depose him for a more fair and equal ruler.

I was expecting the twist to be "Isn't he accused of murdering THE COURT WIZARD? You know, HIMSELF?"

I love the idea of a wizard committing a stabbing to assassinate someone, and just playing it off as
âIf I killed someone, I would have used magic, I can barely life a butter knife myself, I have unseen servants for thatâ

I mean, it's like these guys have no idea what a red herring is!
Although I do like the idea of a vizier cackling evily as he schemes... how to improve international trade relations
"Hehehe! I shall give them an offer they cannot refuse!!!!
After all, one goldpiece for five reams of silk is a steal!"

I got the idea of an evil Vizier keeping the king/Emperor/Sultan alive and safe because he realized if he ever ascend to the throne there be a bullseye on him and his family.

Jeff Stabtheking's surname is actually a merging of two noble family lineages! The 'Stab' family, known for being fearless kights, and 'TheKing' an old monarchy that sold their lands to the current rulers family when it was clear that they would be unable to protect themselves from the Notsecretlydemons' kingdom!

Personally, I always liked that sort of thing: playing off expectations only for a fun twist at the end

Grand Vizier: i would give my life for the King, for he was the only one who gave me a chance to prove myself!

As it so happens, Stabtheking is a family name from the Grand Vizierâs original role of killing the king should he fall into tyranny or act against his peopleâs best interest. Jeff is smiling because heâs imagining the faces of the kingdomâs children when they see the new playground he built near the orphanage

You see, Sir Stabtheking got his name after he helped overthrow the previous tyrannical king, and took the name to make it clear that if the crown fell to corruption once more, his family would be there for the people.

I want a D&D story where the Grand Vizier/king's advisor has all the hallmarks of the usual traitor, but when explored it turns out that it's due to a curse placed on the job itself and everybody who has had the title have been nothing but loyal to the king and country. There's even a hall of portraits of the men before they officially took the job and the curse took hold.

Implying that the Red Herring wasn't intentional
