Revv52 Virtually Yours 2020

11 videos • 888 views • by Revv52 Like many other arts organizations, Revv52 had to put in-person rehearsals on hold early in 2020 when choral singing was linked to a number of severe COVID-19 outbreaks worldwide. But necessity, as they say, is the mother of invention - and to Revv52’s performers, making music together is definitely a necessity. In March 2020, Revv52 shifted to online rehearsals through Zoom. Over the following months, the group produced seven creative and engaging virtual performances by having members record their individual audio tracks and videos from home, which were then carefully assembled by a video editor. Watching the videos in order, you can see the progression in quality as the singers got more comfortable rehearsing and recording on their own at home. Following the casual simplicity of their first virtual video, “Up Where We Belong”, Revv52’s members were excited to add colour themes, wardrobe, choreography, humour, and featured guests to their pieces. That excitement was contagious. Throughout the summer, the view counts kept rising, and Revv52 found they were connecting with a new worldwide audience. Their virtual videos weren’t just making the local news; they were being played on the Canadian national news as well as on a number of international broadcasts, including “Inside Edition” in the United States. Revv52 is thankful to everyone who listened, watched, liked, commented on or shared these virtual videos over the past year. During these uncertain times, Revv52 is certain of one thing—they’re incredibly grateful for your love and support!
