Ultima III: Exodus (HQ Remake)

20 videos • 5,757 views • by Pieces of 8-bit's HQ Remakes One of the greatest RPGs ever made, and one of the first open world games ever made, Ultima is a series that will live on in history as one of the great accomplishments in gaming. Richard Garriott, aka "Lord British" made his first games in high school on teletype printer rolls (28 games!). He got his hands on an Apple and made Akalabeth, which he sold less than a dozen copies in ziploc bags at the computer store in which he worked. Word got out and he was offered a chance to make $5 a copy in its first run. He sold 30,000 copies. He went on to make the Ultima series, and the rest is history. He surrounded himself with masters like Ken W. Arnold, who wrote the music to this soundtrack, and Denis Loubet, who made the cover art to many of his games. The gaming world owes Lord British a great deal of respect when it comes to the advances he made with RPGs. Ultima III was my first introduction to the series, open world games, and RPGs in general. Here's my symphonic version of that soundtrack. I hope you enjoy listening to it as much as I enjoyed making it. Let me know how I did in the comments and don't forget to subscribe for more 8-bit awesome! Original scores by Ken W. Arnold (Ultima 3 Soundtrack) and Thomas Arne (Rule, Britannia!). Ken W. Arnold was one of the first great composers for game music, and his expertise shows through.
