My name is Carmen Xochimil Flores and I started this channel in mind of the little 8 year old fetus Carmen who had no clue what to expect when it came to Folklórico. As I continue to stay active in the community, I noticed this huge problem of beginners being left in the shadows without any guidance on how to navigate our world. And it’s not getting any better. Here’s everything I wished someone would have told me sooner.
Dance Experience
The most notable companies Carmen has danced for have been: Ballet Folklórico de Los Ángeles, Técnica Arte y Folklore, Relámpago del Cielo and Danza Artes de México. She 's also taken ballet classes at Anaheim Ballet and Odyssey Dance Academy. She was a background dancer for Lila Downs in 2023 with Danza Artes de México. Carmen regularly attends winter dance intensives at the Martha Graham School and Folklórico workshops and masterclasses.
