Be on the lookout for a new video today about California vs. South Carolina (and the south in general) featuring my better half. My wife makes her on-camera debut discussing differences between the states. It's very informal and not at all a "debate". Between this video, my last one about some weird rocks, and the next two, the topics and format are a bit different. This isn't a change in the channel but just a handful of not-normal videos that I'm deciding to post back to back.

Hey everyone. I'm going to be doing a livestream tonight at 8PM eastern where I do some geography quizzes similar to the one in the recent video I posted about the oldest city in each state. I'm going to do one where I test my knowledge of California vs. South Carolina and then the state that chat chooses for me. Plus probably some Q&A, other quizzes, music talk, and maybe it'll go off the rails at some point. You never know for sure. Hopefully you'll get a chance to check out the stream. Later

Salut! This is Quebec City, one of the largest North American cities that I hadn't been to (until yesterday), and it might be the most beautiful. I've spent two days just walking around different parts of town and I have to say that I may have found my new favorite city. It's in that sweet spot in the Venn diagram where Montreal and Portland, ME meet, making it a great medium-sized city for my tastes. I'll post more of my photos on Instagram in the next day or two.

Delaware-style cheesesteak from a hole-in-the-wall steaks and subs place in the Wilmington area. I'm grateful for Delaware, since without it there wouldn't be anywhere in the US to get a good cheesesteak.

I've been collecting these for years. I could certainly buy them online but it's become a thing where I only buy them if at used bookstores. With these 2 I've now surpassed 25 states.

I went caving today with some geology students from UT Chattanooga and got a little turned around in the cave. Came to a fork and didn't know where to go. Which way would you choose? Look for a caving video coming soon that will combine adventure with geography and geology education.

Hello everyone. I recently did a fun HugeQuiz head-to-head with Chicago Geographer and he uploaded the video earlier today. Check out his channel to see if the old man can out-geo the whippersnapper.

I'm just about to upload a new video. YouTube has created new rules for mid-video ads. This is now the DEFAULT way it does things. They wanted FOUR ad breaks in a 19-minute video, the first coming a whole one minute into the video. The look on my face says it all.

Assuming a 15ish minute video that would be just one video and not part of a series (such as Best/Worst Cities/States for X or Y, Interesting Islands/Counties/Parks, or whatever) which would you rather see?

My wife and I are in Charleston, SC for a few days and usually whenever I visit a city I go to independent record shops. This one was doing some posts for the store's IG account, so I thought I would photobomb them. This is The Record Stop on King St in the historic district. My haul from the store was "Ain't Love Grand" by X and one of those 2-for-1 "Double Play" albums they released in the 60s. This one for the Beach Boys. Good store with better-than-most sections for hip-hop, country, golden oldies, and reggae.
