American country and gospel singer and guitarist Jimmy Fortune has become one of the mainstays in the music scene, his career dating back to 1981. Fortune found his big break when he was discovered by and began to tour with the Statler Brothers. During this time, He wrote the groupâs second No. 1 hit, âElizabeth,â on their 1983 album Today, and followed that with two more No. 1 hits: âMy Only Loveâ and âToo Much On My Heartâ. Fortune also wrote the Top 10 hit âForeverâ and co-wrote the top-10 hit âMore Than a Name on the Wallâ. The group was later inducted into the Gospel Music Association Hall of Fame and the Country Music Association Hall of Fame.
