EVEREST MYSTERY POLL QUESTION: Fast climbs, xenon gas, high tech, and helicopters — Everest is changing in front of our eyes. This week a climber went from New York to the summit of Everest in less than four days, and a team of special forces veterans from the UK went from London to the summit in five days. Should we EMBRACE this NEW ERA OF MOUNTAINEERING, or are we losing something sacred, inherent in the words 'freedom of the hills' uttered by generations of mountaineers? Choose your answer and please LEAVE A COMMENT in the section below.

A summit window is coming in the next few days and it's uncertain how many chances you'll get to go for that summit which you've dreamed of for many years. With 1000 clients and high-altitude guides and Sherpa all waiting their turn, you know that going early could mean bottlenecks and traffic jams. But, waiting might mean missing your chances altogether. What would you do? PLEASE CHOOSE your answer and PLEASE LEAVE A COMMENT in the section below.

EVEREST MYSTERY POLL QUESTION: "Are Sherpas Being Used as Bait on 8000ers?" Rima Sherpa and Ngima Tashi Sherpa were tragically killed in an avalanche on Annapurna last week. Their bodies were recovered with the help of Recco reflectors sewn into their clothing. Mountaineer Flor Cuenca, aka Flower Wayta Mendoq Hirkawarmi, who knew them personally as close friends, has spoken out, saying that Sherpas are being used as "human bait" to test unstable slopes at times of day when no one should be in that section of the mountain—meanwhile, clients and expedition operators push for fast ascents to move quickly from one peak to the next.
As the commercialization of 8000-meter peaks increases, who bears the most responsibility for this pressure and unthinkable human loss? Please choose your answer and LEAVE A COMMENT in the section below.

EVEREST MYSTERY POLL QUESTION: As featured in a recent video (linked below), George Mallory’s boot was observed to have tiny gray pebbles wedged in, just above the sole. These pebbles appear to be gray limestone, which is consistent with the type of rock near Everest's summit. Some sleuths want to analyze these pebbles under an electron microscope to confirm their origin. But even rocks near the summit can end up lower on the mountain. So, what do you think we'd actually learn if the rocks were found to be gray limestone? Choose your answer and be sure to leave a comment in the section below.

Whether it’s delving into the discovery of Sandy Irvine’s boot a century after his disappearance on Everest, or honoring a daring rescue on Annapurna that defied the odds, this channel is about more than mountaineering. It’s about hope. It’s about respect. And it’s about a commitment to honesty and community — the very things the internet too often lacks.
I’m Thom Pollard — adventure filmmaker, podcaster, and high-altitude cameraman on the 1999 expedition that discovered George Mallory on Everest. I’ve filmed four Everest documentaries and devoted my life not only to adventure, but to sharing untold stories from the world’s most extreme places.
In a world that often insists we live in the worst of times, I invite you to find something different here — curiosity, positivity, and a renewed perspective.
